About
Why Counselling?
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed; life can be tough and can throw challenges our way. I recognise that during times like these it can all seem too much and we can struggle to find a way through our own difficulties.
There are times in life when we all struggle with certain life experiences. This may be due to relationship difficulties, bereavement, illness, depression or anxiety. You may have experienced abuse or may be struggling with an addiction and need someone to talk to. Whatever your reasons I can offer a safe, confidential and empathic environment in which you can share your experience. Providing a warm, open and down to earth approach, my sessions will allow you to deeply reflect on your thoughts, feelings and emotions, enabling you to achieve a sense of understanding which will allow you to find a way to move forwards and to lead a more fulfilled and empowered life.
How I work
I am a fully qualified Adult and Young People’s Counsellor based in Rodley, Leeds.
I specialise in working with survivors of childhood and adult trauma and Young People aged 14+ as well as those struggling with anxiety and self-esteem issues.
I work in a predominantly person-centred, relational way which means the counselling I offer is non-directive and is underpinned by the relationship between the two of us. Our sessions will be led by you, and we will work together at a pace that suits you. I offer a warm, compassionate, trauma-informed perspective, integrating different techniques and approaches to help you understand the root causes of your behaviours and ways of interacting with others; enabling you to make sense of what is going on for you.
My therapeutic training is underpinned by my degree in Psychology, which provides me with a deep and unique understanding of psychological processes, helping me to further understand the hurdles that life can throw at us and how they affect our wellbeing.
I understand that taking the first step to seek help can be difficult, therefore if you would like more information about counselling in general or about my service, please contact me – I am always happy to reply to texts, emails or phone calls.
